Order 261, signed by the mayor of Latina on 7 August after the fire service inspected the building, declares two flats uninhabitable and bans entry to the building until the remediation is complete. SS 89 Garganica between Mattinata and Vieste.
A long-standing rockfall closure, unrelated to this summer's emergencies. A boulder came down onto the carriageway at Ripe Rosse near Mattinata on 5 December 2025 and Anas shut the road between kilometre 105 and kilometre 144, about forty kilometres. Regione Puglia said on 29 July 2026 that it had approved an agreement with Anas and the Agenzia del Demanio putting Anas in charge of the works on the cliff, with 1.31 million euros committed and no reopening date. No signposted alternative has been published for the whole stretch. The other road between the two towns is the SP 53 along the coast, past Baia delle Zagare and Vignanotica.

Campsites, hotels and holiday accommodation

No campsite, beach or accommodation is reported closed. A separate fire reached the green strip behind the Termitosa beach in the preceding days and was held after about three hours with a Canadair.

Reports of a campsite with hundreds of guests on Via della Selciatella. No evacuation of it has been reported at any stage and no closure of the site itself has been reported. Ring them before you set off.
Power and water

Canadair drops used partly to keep the fire off the aqueduct filter tanks.
Radiogold reported on 9 August that the aircraft were working the most dangerous edges in part to stop the flames reaching the filter tanks of the local water supply. No interruption to supply has been reported.

Power line across the burnt ground switched off.
The transmission line crossing the burnt ground at Padriciano was de-energised while the fire was worked and no restoration has been announced.
Access closures: forests, beaches, trails and water

The public is told to keep away from the fire ground on Monte Morrone.
Only trained personnel are permitted near the operation. Soldiers of the ninth Alpini regiment have been opening access routes for firefighting vehicles, and two Canadair and two regional helicopters were still flying the ground on 14 August.

Navigation restricted on the first basin of Lake Como.
The restriction was put in place so the Canadair aircraft could take on water. Boat trips out of Como can be interrupted at short notice while the operation continues.

Spur of the Val Fraina forest road up to the Alpe Caprecolo closed to vehicles and to walkers.
An order of the comune di Premana bans both vehicle and pedestrian transit on the branch of the Val Fraina agricultural and forest road that leads to the Alpe Caprecolo, and holds until it is revoked and full safety is restored. Limits also apply along the Val Fraina road from the Alpe Rasga while firefighting operations and emergency vehicles are moving. No revocation has been published.

Walkers to the Monte Barone refuge restricted to the G1 and G1a route.
The G8, and the G1 with G8 combination, are to be avoided until further notice for safety reasons while the fire is being worked.

The Ente Parco stopped visits to the park between one and five in the afternoon from 29 June.
This is a heat measure and not a fire measure. It covers walkers including those using trail 406 down into the gorge and the suspension bridge across to Murgia Timone. No end date was published. The visitor points at Jazzo Gattini and Porta Pistola stayed open.
Smoke and air

The ban was announced with the emergency declaration on 14 August and applies while the aerial operation is running.

The report says the flames and smoke were visible as far as Torvaianica.

Smoke over the plain south of Manfredonia.
Reed fires put up a great deal of smoke for the ground they cover. It drifts well beyond the fire itself and is a reason to keep windows shut and stay off the reserve tracks rather than a health emergency for most people.

Heavy smoke over Campo Ligure, Rossiglione, Voltri and western Genoa on 10 August.
Genova24 described a dense canopy of smoke over Campo Ligure and Rossiglione on the morning of 10 August, with the smell of burnt wood carrying into western Genoa. High pressure and a weak northerly breeze were holding it down.

Smoke carried over Trieste on the bora.
The wind has repeatedly pushed smoke from the plateau down over the city during this sequence. It is a nuisance rather than a restriction and nothing has been closed because of it.

Smoke production was described as continuous on 5 August and drifts through the valley well away from the fire itself.

A tall column of smoke rose at sunset on 3 August and was visible from Anguillara Sabazia and the surrounding area. No restriction has been published.

Air quality testing requested at Lentini after the ex Alba Sud fire.
The council asked Arpa, the regional environment agency, to assess any health risk from the smoke. Parts of the derelict site are suspected of containing asbestos.

Island-wide fire pre-alert in Sicily.
The Sicilian regional civil protection department has been running an orange pre-alert rather than a red alert, covering almost the whole island on 2 August and all nine provinces for 4 August, with the danger rated medium across most of the territory and low in Ragusa and Siracusa. Red fire alerts on the island were a mid-July pattern, not the current one.

Top heat-health warning for Palermo and Catania.
The health ministry's level three heat warning applies to Palermo and Catania for 2, 3 and 4 August, with perceived temperature at or above 40C. This is a heat warning, not a fire alert, and the two are easy to confuse in reporting.

Fires still starting across the peninsula.
Another fire at Vieste on 3 August was put out quickly. The Foggia prefecture has set up a standing technical committee on Gargano fires, covering Peschici, Vieste, Cagnano Varano and San Nicandro, most of which are being treated as deliberate. Treat the peninsula as a place where a fire can start on any hot day rather than one with a single ongoing incident.

Fifteen days in, the fire is still spreading. Flames are visible from the centre of L'Aquila and the front has run from Lucoli through Roio towards Bagno, into wooded ground above housing. Three Canadair and two regional helicopters were working it on 3 August, with volunteers flown in, and the regional civil protection director said the effort was aimed at keeping flames out of the inhabited centres. Showers overnight on 2 to 3 August were short and localised and did not wet the ground.

Reports of further fires at Capo Vaticano and Caria on 19 July, and continued fire activity in the area to the end of the month.

Four helicopters from the regional fleet worked the fire on the outskirts of the town, coordinated by the Corpo forestale station at Bonorva. Homes were not evacuated. Two fires in five days took hold in scrub and reed beds between the SS18, the airport roundabout and the station. Residents left homes as a precaution on 20 July.

Soriano Calabro named among the worst areas in a night of more than forty callouts.
The Vibo Valentia provincial fire command listed Drapia, Zungri, Zaccanopoli, Briatico, San Costantino Calabro, Mesima, Stefanaconi, Filadelfia and Soriano Calabro from eight in the evening on 19 July. Vegetation and Mediterranean scrub, driven by heat and wind. No road closure or evacuation was reported at Soriano Calabro.
The fires themselves

Fire by the cemetery at Longobucco, started on the morning of 14 August, still being fought on 15 August.
In corso means under way. Four ground crews and Canadair aircraft were still committed after more than ten hours of work.

The Monte Naiarda fire above Tramonti di Sotto regained intensity on the afternoon of 15 August.
Ha ripreso intensita means it picked up again, and the bulletin says that happened after a phase in which the fire had been held. The Pordenone forestry station was sent to monitor it and an evening reconnaissance flight was arranged. At the head of the same valley the Canal di Cuna at Tramonti di Mezzo and the Canal Piccolo and Canal Grande di Meduna were sotto osservazione, under observation, with no sign of a new start.

Flames still running between Torre de' Passeri and San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore on the afternoon of 15 August.
Attivo is the reporting's description and not a stage word published by the Abruzzo civil protection agency, whose own surface carried the daily fire-risk forecast and nothing about this fire when it was checked on 16 August. ReteAbruzzo's two o'clock report named San Valentino as one of two places in the region with flames and called the hotspots elsewhere sotto controllo, under control.

La Cronaca reported on 6 August that it took almost twenty four hours to beat the fire that broke out on the evening of 4 August, and that the work had moved to the bonifica phase. The comune of Collarmele said on 4 August that the situation was sotto controllo, under control. Monitoring began on the evening of 3 August and a Canadair made two drops that morning, with the fire service, Tagliacozzo civil protection volunteers and a fire operations director on the ground.

Damping down and making safe of the Incoronata wood after the fire of 1 August.
L'Immediato of 2 August, carrying the civil protection group's own account, describes the work as bonifica e messa in sicurezza dell'area. Gazzetta H24 of 4 August writes that the fire was spento and the area damped down. Bonifica sits in the controlled column of the authority-terms table and spento in the out column, so the worse of the two readings is taken and this page says under control.

Il Granchio reported on 2 August that the bulk of the fire had been put out and the situation was under control. On 3 August the Anzio municipal civil protection group, coordinated by the fire service alongside other civil protection associations, was still working small smoking hot spots that release an acrid smell noticeable at night in Anzio and Lavinio. Nobody has declared the fire out and nothing has been published about it since 3 August, checked again this morning.

CN24TV reports the operation closing successfully at about half past eight in the evening after long hours of bonifica, and Ciavula puts the same finish at the same time. Nobody has been moved out of a home at any point in this fire. The restriction is on the mountain road and the paths above the village.

A fire service squad was posted at the Padriciano care home again on 6 August as a precaution. No evacuation was ordered, either then or when the same plan was prepared at the start of the month.

Neither the Incoronata fire nor the round of fires across the province at the end of July produced a reported evacuation in the Foggia district.

Beaches, campsites and holiday villages between Peschici and Vieste.
Cleared on 26 July as the fire reached the bays; several hundred people were moved and some were taken off the beaches by coast guard boats, with around 300 brought round to Vieste by sea and put up in council buildings. Peschici's mayor said afterwards that tourists had returned to their accommodation.

Beach clubs and campsites were cleared and 21 residents of the Villa San Gerardo care home, including people with limited mobility, were moved out as the fire approached. All were back the same day and no further clearance has been reported.

People from the outlying areas sheltered in the Chiesa Madre and the church at Santa Maria di Gesù while the fire burned. The emergency was declared over on 20 July.

Closed by highway police at 14:31 on 1 August because smoke destroyed visibility. The closure was temporary: Anas reported the A2 carrying heavy exodus traffic without incident over the 1 to 2 August weekend.

Closed on 26 July while the fire was burning, with local buses diverted onto the SS 89 between Peschici and Vieste. Reopened once the fire was out and traffic across the Gargano was reported back to normal on 27 July.

RFI restored normal running at midday on 27 July after the two suspensions on the Parghelia to Briatico section, north of Tropea.

Adriatic line between Termoli and Campomarino.
Suspended from around one in the afternoon on 26 July when the fire reached the track. Rail traffic on the Pescara to Bari line resumed progressively from just after seven that evening after safety checks.

Pescara to Bari line between Lesina and Apricena.
Suspended from a quarter to six on the afternoon of 11 July so the fire service could work safely beside the track. Traffic resumed at about ten to eight the same evening and remained heavily slowed, with delays reported well over an hour.

The beach was busy at the time of the fire and no closure of the beach or the coast road was reported.
Power and water

Water supply cut in the southern part of Pieve Vergonte overnight on 9 August, restored at six on 10 August.
The comune ordered the interruption from 23.45 on Sunday 9 August to 06.00 on Monday 10 August, in its own words to secure the water reserves needed for the firefighting.

Water supply to the San Paolo district cut during the July fires and restored.
The district lost service while the fire was fought and the regional forestry corps brought in thirty cubic metres of water to restore it.

The sanctuary and the wood were not closed.
No closure of the sanctuary, the wood, its tracks or any road near it appears in either account, and no comune or park authority has published one.

New fires on 31 July at Vieste, Cagnano Varano and San Marco in Lamis.
Fire broke out in the Carabella pine wood behind Lungomare Europa at Vieste, next to a hotel, and some houses there were cleared. A farm stay near San Marco in Lamis was evacuated with about twenty people inside, and water bombers also worked the hills above Lake Varano. The Vieste fire was under control the same day and no road or rail closure was reported.
