Crete fire map
Crete is large enough that a fire at one end says nothing about the other: Chania and Sitia are 250km apart. The areas below are given separately for that reason.
No satellite fire detections inside Crete in the latest NASA FIRMS pass (2026-08-04 to 2026-08-05). That is a measurement of heat from orbit, not an all-clear: satellites miss fires under cloud and fires that start after the pass, and a quiet satellite does not mean the authorities have nothing to say. Read it alongside the areas above and the official sources below.
Where this comes from
Fire locations are NASA FIRMS satellite detections. Status for each area is set from what the named authority has published, never from satellite data alone — see how this site works.
If you are travelling
Conditions change hourly during a fire. The authorities above are always right where this page and they disagree, and in danger anywhere in the European Union the emergency number is 112.
Most serious status in Crete right now: Nothing in force.
