I'm Jane. In July 2026 I started planning a late-August campervan trip to France while the news filled with wildfires and heatwave warnings — and I couldn't find one place that told me, honestly, what a traveller actually needed to know: where the fires were, where the heat would be, what really gets disrupted, and how far ahead any forecast can genuinely see.
So I built it — first for France, then, as the same fires swept Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy, for the whole continent. An automated pipeline refreshes the data from public sources (NASA satellite fire detections, MeteoAlarm official alerts, Open-Meteo forecasts, national civil-protection publications); I check the safety content personally. It was for me; it turned out to be useful for anyone travelling Europe in fire season, so here it is.
It is not an official source and never overrules one. If this site and a préfecture disagree, the préfecture is right. In danger, call 112. Every page carries its data timestamp — conditions change hourly during fires, so use the live-check toolkit for anything you're about to act on.
