Sezze and Monte Trevi Wildfire Risk: Should I Travel?

A fire took hold overnight on Monte Trevi above Sezze and was reported still burning on the morning of 5 August. It is on ground too steep for engines to reach.

Short answer: Sezze is a hill town inland from Latina, and the fire is on the mountain above it rather than in the town. Radio Luna reported on 5 August that the flames had been visible from Latina in the dark and that firefighters had gone up to satisfy themselves no houses stood in the way. The slopes cannot be reached by ground vehicles, so putting the fire out depends on Canadair aircraft or helicopters being sent, and in the meantime crews were holding the foot of the fire to stop it running downhill. No road closure and no evacuation has been reported. Latina is where the fire was visible from, not where it is.
