Evacuations and returns home

Four people rehoused in Valpaços.
Around twenty properties were damaged across Gorgoço and Santa Valha, including permanent homes, second homes and empty buildings. Four residents were moved into temporary accommodation. No wider evacuation order is reported as being in force.

Reports of the ER 330 cut between Figueiró da Granja and Vila Chã.
Reports on 7 August said the ER 330 was cut between Figueiró da Granja and Vila Chã, breaking the road link between Fornos de Algodres and Aguiar da Beira, with drivers asked to use alternative routes. This is carried by one wire rather than confirmed independently, and no reopening notice has been published. Check on the morning you travel.

Estrada Municipal 589 at Peroselo was closed on 27 July.
The Tâmega e Sousa sub-regional command closed the road to traffic while the fire advanced. No reopening announcement was published, and the fire itself has been in surveillance since the end of July.
Access closures: forests, beaches, trails and water

Rural and forest tracks between Guarda, Almeida, Pinhel and Sabugal.
The burnt area is open country crossed by farm and forest tracks. Expect blackened ground, ash and occasional crew activity; there is no published visitor attraction closure.

The fire was declared controlled early on 1 August but is not out. Crews and heavy vehicles are still working the perimeter, so rural lanes may be blocked at short notice and are best avoided for driving tours or walking.

The parish council of Duas Igrejas said on 28 July that damage assessment was starting with the municipality. Treat tracks across the burn as unstable.
Smoke and air

A fire of this size leaves a persistent smoke haze for days after containment. Anyone with asthma or a heart condition should factor that into plans for Chaves and the Alto Tâmega.

The Viseu district register showed no fires under way on two consecutive mornings.
The district occurrence register showed zero occurrences under way and no crews or aircraft committed at 9.52am on 11 August and again at 5.24am on 12 August.

The fires themselves

Rebordinho occurrence recorded em resolução, the last stage word published here.
The resolution phase, meaning the occurrence is being closed out rather than fought. Mais Beiras reported the alert at 3.19pm on 9 August and the occurrence em resolução by 3.45pm, with twenty-one firefighters, five vehicles and two aircraft. No service has published a closing word for it or for the Teivas fire of 10 August.

The watching phase, which follows the fire being put out. Seven firefighters and two vehicles were still recorded on it on the morning of 8 August, against a hundred at the peak the previous afternoon.

The Cortiçô and Vila Chã occurrence is back in resolution after two reignitions on Saturday.
Em resolução means contained and not out. Alerted at 16.53 on Friday 7 August, in resolution at 18.10, back to em curso at 19.55, in resolution again at 02.55 on Saturday, then two reignitions during Saturday afternoon before returning to resolution at about 15.40. Several hundred firefighters, dozens of vehicles and aircraft have worked it across those days.

The closing phase, which follows the fire being put out. The register recorded 86 firefighters and 29 vehicles on it and no aircraft on the morning of 8 August, against 354 firefighters and 15 aircraft at the peak.

No account of this fire records anybody moved out of a home, and none reports an injury.
Roads

No road closure and no evacuation was reported at any point.
Neither outlet covering the Rebordinho and Teivas fires reported a road being cut, a village being emptied or anyone being hurt. The A25 passes the Teivas fire ground and no closure of it was reported.

Closed in both directions from around midday on 27 July because of smoke and flames beside the carriageway. Reopened at 23:00 the same night.

What the authorities have said

Valpaços fire closed by civil protection.
The fire that started at Quinta do Cabeço in Ervões on 28 July was brought under control in the early hours of 1 August, moved to "em resolução" that morning and was closed on the evening of 2 August. Five people were hurt, none seriously, and at least twenty one houses were damaged. The council has asked the government for a declaration of calamity.
