Evacuations and returns home

Four people rehoused in Valpaços.
Around twenty properties were damaged across Gorgoço and Santa Valha, including permanent homes, second homes and empty buildings. Four residents were moved into temporary accommodation. No wider evacuation order is reported as being in force.
Roads

Estrada Municipal 589 at Peroselo was closed on 27 July.
The Tâmega e Sousa sub-regional command closed the road to traffic while the fire advanced. No reopening announcement was published, and the fire itself has been in surveillance since the end of July.

Rural and forest tracks between Guarda, Almeida, Pinhel and Sabugal.
The burnt area is open country crossed by farm and forest tracks. Expect blackened ground, ash and occasional crew activity; there is no published visitor attraction closure.

The fire was declared controlled early on 1 August but is not out. Crews and heavy vehicles are still working the perimeter, so rural lanes may be blocked at short notice and are best avoided for driving tours or walking.

Burnt ground between Duas Igrejas, Luzim and Abragão.
The parish council of Duas Igrejas said on 28 July that damage assessment was starting with the municipality. Treat tracks across the burn as unstable.
Smoke and air

Smoke across northern Trás-os-Montes.
A fire of this size leaves a persistent smoke haze for days after containment. Anyone with asthma or a heart condition should factor that into plans for Chaves and the Alto Tâmega.

A25 motorway, Guarda to Alto do Leomil (Almeida).
Closed in both directions from around midday on 27 July because of smoke and flames beside the carriageway. Reopened at 23:00 the same night.

EN16 between Amoreira (Almeida) and Pínzio (Pinhel).
Closed alongside the A25 on 27 July and reopened at about 00:10 on 28 July.
What the authorities have said

Valpaços fire closed by civil protection.
The fire that started at Quinta do Cabeço in Ervões on 28 July was brought under control in the early hours of 1 August, moved to "em resolução" that morning and was closed on the evening of 2 August. Five people were hurt, none seriously, and at least twenty one houses were damaged. The council has asked the government for a declaration of calamity.
