Saint-Just and the Landes de Cojoux Wildfire Risk: Should I Travel?

The megalith site of the Landes de Cojoux stays closed.

Short answer: the thing people come to Saint-Just for is the thing that is shut. The fire started in woodland at the Pichenais locality, close to the megalithic alignments of the Landes de Cojoux, and the préfecture d'Ille-et-Vilaine says access, movement, parking and the presence of any person are banned inside the burnt zone and for a hundred metres around it. That includes the walking paths, the accesses to the espace naturel sensible des mégalithes et landes de Saint-Just, and the GR 39 long-distance path. The préfecture said the fire had not progressed since ten o'clock on the night of Wednesday 12 August, and it was declared fixé on the evening of Friday 14 August after more than forty-eight hours of work. It is not out: more than 150 firefighters were still watching the ground on Saturday morning. The temporary ban on public access to woods and heath across every commune in Ille-et-Vilaine ran until eight o'clock on the morning of Saturday 15 August. Separate restrictions on spark-generating work and on driving in forest areas run until five o'clock on the morning of Tuesday 18 August.
