Northern Peloponnese (Achaia and Argolida) Wildfire Risk: Should I Travel?

The Aigialeia fire above Aigio was still not under control on 2 August, and a separate fire in western Achaia put smoke across Patras. Nafplio, Mycenae and the main coast road are open.

Short answer: There is still no reason to cancel a northern Peloponnese trip, but Achaia is now the part to check rather than read about. The fire that started at Nerantzies, above Aigio, on the afternoon of Friday 31 July had a better picture on 2 August but the fire service had not declared it under control, and the municipality of Aigialeia kept reception points open at Rododafni and Kamares for people out of evacuated hamlets. Separately, a fire in western Achaia brought a 112 evacuation message before dawn on 2 August and pushed smoke over Patras itself. If you are sailing from Patras or building a day around Mycenae, check the morning you travel.
